A Distant Dream

Lying on the shores of memory,

Unchained from reality,

A paradise within itself,

A distant dream it was.

Afraid to come into this world,

Fearful of the ways of the heart,

Happy in its own little shell,

A distant dream it was.

Then came the winds of change,

The rains of reality had arrived,

Storms of uncertainty crept up,

A distant reality it now was.

It tried to make peace with this world,

Struggled to survive against the coldness of the heart,

Fought against the dogmas of the mind,

Yet, a distant reality it was.

Through the passage of time,

Though left alone, it survived,

Fuelled only by love,

Not so distant it now was.

Blessings were now on its side,

Another soul now kept it alive,

A ray of hope around the corner,

Not so distant it now was.

A paradise it still is,

No more just a dream,

A few steps away from its destination,

A distant dream it once was.

The power that keeps one alive,

The love that one desires,

A today that one always wishes for,

A distant dream it once was.
