Discussion on Secondary Structure Prediction for Protein Sequences
Yan Liu
Slides: pdf

Abstract:
The number of known protein sequences is exploding as a result of genome and other sequencing project. However, the protein sequence-structure gap is widening rapidly. Secondary structure prediction is an intermediate but important step to understand the protein three-dimensional structure. In the discussion, I will give an introduction of the task and an overview of previous work. Then I will hold a discussion on the new approaches where IR techniques can be applied. This session will be mostly discussion and any comment or suggestions are welcome.
