15-463 F'07 Project 0: "Dolly Zoom"

Method
For each subject, source images were taken at different distances, using zoom to keep the subject (or some part thereof) in a constant position in the picture. This method is described in greater detail here.
Animated GIF's were produced using Adobe ImageReady CS2. To make the animations more convincing, the source images were superimposed with an eye toward keeping some parts fixed.

Attempting this in indoor locations, especially hallways (which might otherwise yield interesting perspective effects), failed for at least two reasons:
- New elements became visible in the picture, ruining the desired effect
- My camera's use of flash meant distant objects were inconsistently lit
