1. Car and Parking Meter

Here are some shots of a parked car and a parking meter, demonstrating the Vertigo Effect. The car was motionless during the entire scene, although it seems that the distance between the meter and the car decreases with each photograph.

The only thing that annoyed me was that I couldn't keep the camera exactly in the same position, so that one element from the scene will not move while I move & zoom... So in order to have reasonable steady photos, I had to consider some visual ques... I decided that the parking meter will always be in the lower right hand side of the photograph :)

I took the photos in reversed order than displayed here. The first picture in this list (which was taken last) had used maximum zoom-in and maximum distance between the camera and the car. For each of the next photos I took, I zoomed out as little as I could, and I walked towards the car.

I used a Fujifilm FinePix f31fd for the photo camera... with 3x optical zoom (and 5x digital zoom, which I didn't use). For this scene, I went just outside of Webster Hall (where I live), and I tried to find a scene with at least 2 objects, where I could move in a line, closer to the center of the scene. I finally chose a parked car near the sidewalk, as I was able to just walk closer or further apart from it.

2. Inside Webster Hall

Here I shall demonstrate the reverse Vertigo effect... It will look like objects in the background are getting closer and closer to the camera.

For this set of pictures I also used my Fujifilm Finepix f31fd. I took the first picture with no zoom, while being closest to the actual scene. Then, photo by photo, I zoomed in slightly, and I stepped backwards, away from the scene.

You should notice the drop in photo luminosity due to the small range of the flash: the first photos are better illuminated, while the last ones are getting darker.

Problems ... Because in the last photos I zoomed in, the door in the end of the corridor didn't entirely fit in the last photos.
