Welcome to the StarFleet home page.
Motto: "No, it sure ain't netrek"
This is a question that has hounded many of us for the past few years. Some would say that StarFleet is a multi-player, networked, space war simulation game in the same ilk as netrek only bigger, better designed, and actually quite different when you look at it.
Others would say that, no, StarFleet is actually the embodiment of several programmers' inability to get a life (and in one case a job) over the span of several years (or months), and the ensuing overfeatured nightmare that resulted.
Still others would say, if you're looking for a short, serious description, click on this text called Serious Description right here.
Such documentation as exists can be found here (and I might add, only here).
Be warned that the following documents contain a large number of inline images. Although this makes explaining certain parts of StarFleet immensely easier, it does make the documents bigger.
Here's where the get ahold of the current distribution. This points to our suuuuper seeeecret FTP site thousands of miles beneath the Earth's crust.
You want the file sf_latest.tar.Z
Ignore anything else. We're also running an international drug cartel out of that directory.
Here's a list releases and new features/bug fixes for each.
Since playing with (...er by) yourself is no fun, here's a list of servers you can connect to and meet similar life forms. No guarantee that any of these are up.
