• A small ethnic grocery store on Craig needs help with inventory management. Questions about whether they should invest in bar code scanners and related hardware and software need to be answered. This is an excellent project for a team of students who want to get a taste of what real world consulting is like. Also a wonderful opportunity to learn about the retail business.

• There are a host of projects possible in resource hunting or allocations. Examples are aprtment locator systems, job search systems, site location systems etc. A variety of technologies including GIS, the Web and other GUI-based systems can be enabling technologies to make this sort of decision support possible.

• Scheduling systems which permit resource sharing. Examples include classroom, operating room, nurses, project, and employee scheduling.

• Emergency response management. Lots of interesting public interest possibilities here.

• Be imaganitive and generate other ideas!
