for the cypherheads:

Internauts,

For those of you interested in the public use of cryptography,
there is an important white paper just inserted into the ISOC
Gopher Server by Mr. Stephen Walker, President of Trusted
Information Systems, concerning the implications of a licensing
arrangement between the US National Institute of Standards and
Technology and Public Key Partners.

The item is located on the Gopher server at ietf.cnri.reston.va.us
under the \"Internet Society / NREN, NII and Miscellaneous News
Items\" page, and is title \"Digital Signature Standard: We Can do
Better - Stephen T. Walker\".

sorry, that should be Fully Informed Jury Act,
and they and they want this to be read to every juror in every state:

(2) Before the jury hears a case, and again before jury
deliberation begins, the court shall inform the jurors of their
rights in these words: \"As jurors, your first responsibility is
to decide whether the defendant has broken the law. If you
decide that he has, but that you cannot in good conscience
support a guilty verdict, you are not required to do so. To
reach a verdict which you believe is just, each of you has the
right to consider to what extent the defendant's actions have
actually caused harm or otherwise violated your sense of right
and wrong. If you believe justice requires it, YOU MAY ALSO
JUDGE BOTH THE MERITS OF THE LAW under which he has been charged
AND THE WISDOM OF APPLYING THAT LAW to the defendant.
Accordingly, for each charge against the defendant, even if
review of the evidence strictly in terms of the law would
indicate a guilty verdict, you have the right to find him
innocent. The court cautions that with the exercise of this
right comes full moral responsibility for the verdict you bring
in.\"

i thought that held for new (during the month) purchases,
but you still got APR on outstanding balance.

Some banks give you a grace period only in months when your previous
balance is zero. Others (fewer of them all the time) give the
stated grace period on all new purchases even if you have a balance
from last month. The second method can save you big bucks; be sure
to find out how your bank does it when you apply for the card.

WWW server covering the Winter Olympics Games
http://www.odh.no (128.39.109.9)

As a service to Internet users, Oppland College - Lillehammer - Norway
have made a World Wide Web server holding information about the Olympics
- mainly from a social perspective. We are planning to feed the server on
a daily basis during the days of the Olympics Winter Games with
information of general interest to the public. Information about the
weather, social life and other special events will be covered.

Due to copyright restrictions and limited resources we are unable to
provide you with actual results or information from the sporting events.

We plan to type in around 1-3 pages of information each day. The
information will contain several formats including text, pictures and
perhaps some digital video (QuickTime/MPEG).

If you would like to contribute or have spesific questions, requests or
comments, please feel free to contact us. Please keep in mind, that we
have
limited resources.

I can open
/afs/cs.cmu.edu/project/iwarp/archive/WWW-pages/iwarp.html
but I can't open
http://www.cs.cmu.edu:8001/afs/cs.cmu.edu/project/iwarp/archive/WWW-pages/iwarp.html
(I get a \"403 Forbidden: your client does not have permission...\" error.

Anyone know why? The only odd thing I can see is that the iwarp path
sets system:anyuser to \"l\" rather than \"rl\" -- would this affect the
www.cs.cmu.edu access?

if I want to give out the URL for outside users to get to the
garnet page, is the following correct?

http://www.cs.cmu.edu:8001/afs/cs.cmu.edu/project/garnet/www/garnet-home.html

I was suprised it wasn't something like for my home page where
there is: ...:8001/Web/People/landay/landay-home.html
