Zephyr stats, August 1993--January 1997

These statistics have been collected by a zephyr-logging daemon. Nearly all broadcast zephyrgrams in the CS.CMU.EDU realm are included, except for most automated zephyrgrams such as temperature updates and top-ten lists, and zephyrgrams on instances starting with "graffiti".

The statistics are for the 42-month period 1-Aug-93 through 31-Jan-97, during which 373836 zgrams (36.5 Mbytes) were logged.

Stats available:

• senders, ranked by
  • zgrams sent
  • zgrams containing :-)
  • uses of the Seven Dirty Words
  • uses of "sddd"
• instances, listed alphabetically and by popularity
• commonly used words in zgrams (also common longer words and common non-words)
• distribution of zgrams over time:
  • by hour of the day
  • by day of the week
  • by month, over the 42 months
• heaviest zephyr-traffic days
• New: animated plot of top senders' ztraffic
