Conrad J. Poelman

Who am I?

I'm a Ph.D. Candidate, School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University.
My advisor is Professor Takeo Kanade.
Addresses, schedules, quotes, more quotes, and some pictures of where I live.

What do I do?

I'm not here any more, now I work at the Phillips Laboratory Satellite Assesment Center on Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. But when I was here at CMU, I worked in the VASC research group, part of the CMU Robotics Institute, doing computer vision research. Specifically, I try to recover the three-dimensional shapes of objects from image sequences containing motion. You can read the current draft of my thesis (warning: 5.6Megabytes!), a shorter summary of my thesis , or a slightly older tech report, A Paraperspective Factorization Method for Shape and Motion Recovery. (warning: 1.8 Megabytes) Also feel free to take a look at some of my image sequences or see some factorization method demos.

Here are some of my image sequences:

1 a toy house
1 the CMU Navlab II
1 my kitchen
1 my desk (in infra-red!)
1 Wean Hall (in infra-red!)
1 the Oakland area of Pittsburgh from the air
1 a suburban Pittsburgh residential area (I risked life and limb for these!)
1 the Pittsburgh point area

No, what do I really do?

Los Amigos GSO volleyball team (captain)
Viking Death Rats basketball
