The Novartis Foundation works in partnership with healthcare educators to provide medical knowledge on how to remain active and independent through most of the later years. National Archive of Computerized Data on Aging (NACDA) National Archive of Computerized Data on Aging (NACDA) preserves and makes available the electronic data on aging. It offers opportunities for secondary analysis on major issues of scientific and policy relevance. The site offers abstracts of and access to datasets that are the result of research and various census polls Panel Study of Income Dynamics The Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID) is a longitudinal survey of a representative sample of U.S. individuals (men, women, and children) and the families in which they reside. It has been ongoing since 1968. The site offers access to the database and related information The Health and Retirement Study (HRS) and Asset and Health Dynamics Among the Oldest Old (AHEAD) Nationally representative longitudinal data collections that examine retirement and the aging of society. The site provides a wide array of information and materials related to the studies, including an overview, announcements, study details, datasets and files, and papers and publications. Government AgenciesThis web site includes information designed for Older Americans, their families, and anyone providing opportunities and services to enrich the lives of older persons and support their independence. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Health topics The site provides an alphabetic list of health topics linking to fact sheets, professional information, and a range of links to other sources of information on the Web. In 1974 Congress granted authority to form the National Institute on Aging to provide leadership in aging research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs relevant to aging and older people. The site includes access to articles on specific topics related to aging, as well as background information about research programs, funding and training opportunities, and links to resources (by keyword). U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services The site describes programs and initiatives for aging Americans, includes links to related agencie, and provides a search results from Healthfinder on topics of aging. Long-term CareBased in Madison, Wisconsin, AgeNet, Inc. operates a comprehensive, national eldercare network to meet the specific needs of the fast growing aging population and their adult caregiving children. This eldercare network brings together suppliers of eldercare products and services with businesses such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home health care providers, health systems, and organizations or companies with employee assistance programs. The site offers articles and links on these topics for seniors and caregivers: senior health, geriatric drugs, legal, insurance, financial, helpful products and caregiver support. For product suppliers and care providers, the site describes partnership opportunities and contact information. AHCPR Research on Long-Term Care The Agency for Health Care Policy and Research (AHCPR) has undertaken and funded important studies in long-term care research. This site summarizes findings and includes bibliographies about these long-term care topics: Use, cost, and financing; Access and quality of care; Organization and delivery of care; Consumer and care giver behavior; Special populations; Data development and methodology. American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging The American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) represents not-for-profit organizations that provide health care, housing and services to the elderly. Its membership includes not-for-profit nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities, senior housing facilities, assisted living and community services. American Health Care Association The American Health Care Association (AHCA) is a federation of 50 state health organizations that represent nearly 12,000 non-profit and for-profit assisted living, nursing facility, and subacute care providers.
