Monty Buckley scored 22 points and California used a 19-4 run midway
through the second half to remain unbeaten with an 89-76 victory over
   13th-ranked Cincinnati.

The Golden Bears (6-0) trailed, 61-53, with 12:34 remaining before
going on the big run to assume a 72-65 lead five minutes later. Jelani
Gardner scored five of his 14 points during the run.

"This will make a great Christmas present," said Cal coach Todd
Bozeman. "The guys showed a lot of poise and are fighting hard to gain
   respect."

Cincinnati (7-3) had its three-game winning streak stopped as
California, which has a 5-1 edge in the all-time series, beat a ranked
team for the second straight game. The Golden Bears are 6-0 for the
   first time since 1967.

K.J. Roberts added 16 points for California, which saw the Bearcats go
on a 14-2 run and grab a 61-53 advantage midway through the second
   half.

"They took a pretty big punch at us," Bozeman said. "With us playing
the way we did, our depth stepped up and helped us."

Curtis Bostic and Danny Fortson scored 18 points each to lead
Cincinnati. Fortson added nine rebounds. Cincinnati's LaZelle Durden
was held to just seven points on 2-of-14 shooting from the field.

Buckley helped the Golden Bears to a 45-38 halftime lead with 12
points. Cal used a 21-12 run over a 4:25 span midway through the first
half to turn an 11-11 tie into a 32-23 cushion.

Cal was just 29-of-49 (59 percent) from the foul line while the
Bearcats were 20-of-32. The Golden Bears shot 50 percent from the
field (27-of-54) and held Cincinnati shot just 42 percent (25-of-60).

California built the lead to 11 twice and its 13-point lead at the end
of the game was its biggest.
