Place: | Wean Hall 5409 |
I'll give a brief, unofficial overview of the CMU SCS computing facilities and electronic culture from a grad-student perspective. I'll talk about local customs and useful resources for getting a running start in our somewhat quirky environment, and I'll try to answer any questions. I encourage other grad students to attend, to provide different perspectives and address topics I'm less familiar with.
See the web version of this talk, which includes details I didn't have time to present in person, as well as many pointers to good sources of getting-started information. If you notice any missing instructions or have other suggestions, please let me know.
On Wednesday, September 4, Clauss Strauch of SCS Facilities will present the official introduction to the facilities.
At a time to be announced, Maria Ebling (grad student) will talk about avoiding Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI) at CMU. I strongly recommend attending--this is serious stuff.
