CS 213 Fall, 2003: Exam Info

The final exam is Tue, Dec 9, 1-4pm, DH 2210

Q. Will you have candy for us during the exam?
A. Yes, we'll have Kit Kats, Snickers, and M&M's (courtesy of the CS alumni).

Q. Will there be an exam review?
A. Yes, during the last lecture period, Thu Dec 4, 9-10:20am. We will also do FCEs at that time.

Q. What will be covered on the exam?
A. The exam is comprehensive. Expect questions on topics such as (but not limited to) floating point, multidimensional arrays, array indexing, structure access, signals, conflict misses, cache miss rate analysis, processes vs threads, malloc, system level I/O, and concurrency and race conditions.

The following topics will NOT be covered: processor architecture (Ch 4), code optimization (Ch 5), linking (Ch 7), measuring program performance (Ch 9), VM and address translation (Ch 10.1-10.8), garbage collection (Ch 10.10), and the sockets interface (Ch 12).

You are responsible for all topics except those that are explicitly excluded above.

Q. Where do I pick up my graded copies of Exam 1 and Exam 2?
A. You can pick up the old exams and solutions from Barb Grandillo WeH 8018 during normal business hours.

Q. Can I get copies of last year's exam?
A. Yes, last year's exam (with solutions) are on the table outside of WeH 8018.

Q. Is the exam open notes/open book?
A. Yes.
