15-213 Introduction to Computer Systems (ICS): Exams
- All exams are closed book, closed notes.
- However, you may bring one (1) double-sided 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of notes,
which can be handwritten or typed, to the midterm, and you may
bring two (2) double-sided 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of notes to the final.
- You may not use a computer at all.
- You are not permitted to use a calculator or any other electronic aid.
- There will be questions similar to previous exams, questions that
will test your understanding of the lab material, and new types of
questions.
Final Exam - 8:30am-11:30am, Mon Dec 10, 2012.
- The Final Exam will be held in three different locations. Please
go to the room based on the your Autolab Section:
- Location 1: UC McConomy [capacity 450]: Sections A-H
- Location 2: PH 100 [capacity 217]: Sections I-L
- Location 3: PH 125C [capacity 35]: Section M
- Students with accomodations with EOS for extra time should
arrange for proctoring through Larry Powell's office.
The 213 staff will not be proctoring any extra-time exams.
- You are responsible for everything in Chapters 1-3 and Chapters
6-12 in your textbook. You can expect questions on topics such as,
but not limited to, floating point, assembly, stacks, caches, VM
address translation, process control, Unix I/O, concurrency, and
synchronization.
- To study, read each chapter three times, work the practice
problems, and do problems from previous exams:
Midterm Exam - Tue Oct 16, 2012
- The midterm exam will be held at two different times on Oct
16.
- Nominal time: 6:30pm-7:50pm: Students should report to one
of the following locations at 6:15pm:
- Location 1: DH 2315: Students enrolled in Lecture 1 (O'Hallaron and Ganger)
- Location 2: WeH 7500: Students enrolled in Lecture 2 (Kesden)
- Alternate time: 1:30pm-2:50pm (If and only if you have an evening conflict)
- Location: DH 2315. Just show up; no need to inform the teaching staff.
- Students with EOS accomodations for extra time should
arrange for proctoring through Larry Powell's office. The 213 staff will not be proctoring any extra-time exams.

- Your TAs will hold an exam review during recitation on
Monday, Oct 15.
- There is no lecture on exam day.
