15-827 Scribes
All students taking this class (whether for credit or auditing) are
expected to be a scribe for at least one lecture. The schedule for
the rest of the semester can be found
here.
There are two parts to this duty:
-
taking careful, complete notes during the lecture. Your notes
should be in complete sentences -- more like a transcript of the
lecture than an outline. This will probably require that you
revise and expand your notes after the lecture.
- giving a copy of your notes to Ari by 5pm the following Monday
(for Wednesday lectures. For lectures on other days of the week,
adjust accordingly). If you can reasonably use plain text or
HTML, please do so, and email your file to Ari (ari@cs). If your
notes include complex diagrams, lots of equations, or something
else that makes text and HTML difficult, postscript is okay.
Please do not email enormous postscript files. Put them in AFS,
and send Ari a pointer.
Ari will edit and compile the scribes' notes into a single set which
will be made available to the class on the web.
Scribes do not need to copy down the lecture slides verbatim, since
the text of the slides will be incorporated into the published notes.
Rather, they should record the additional information which is
presented in lecture.
