Because we have two eyes, we can triangulate the distance to objects. That
is, we have depth perception. Our eyes can move, but Nomad's are fixed, so
it has 3 pairs of cameras or "eyes" to help it do the same thing.
The information recorded by these cameras could be used to form maps like the one to the right. Nomad also uses the information it collects along with data from the laser rangefinder to decide which ways are safe to go. |
