It was announced yesterday that the San Francisco 49ers (football
team :-)) will offer full spousal benefits to the unmarried partners
of their 220 employees, either same-sex or opposite-sex!  I'm sure

Cynics are suggesting that the Niners are doing this now to drum
up support in the LGBT community for a "yes" vote in June on a
currently unpopular bond measure to help finance a new football
stadium/shopping-mall mega-complex...
