Plan
We've now produced several demos, even if the Cinematrix system seems to be
displeased with us:
- Basic speedup/speeddown rowing simulation, controlled via syncronization
with beat.
- Seat circle demo, size of seat circles controlled by speed of bat
variantion.
- Hoop demo, ball height controlled by freqency of bat switches.
We are now proceding, using the Inventor modeling system, to create a 3D
world in which we shall combine the various methods of receiving audience
interaction, structured to inducing cooperation.
The basic character control will be predefined. The audience will interact with
the characters to the extent of "Yes, I like what you are doing", or "No, do
something else".
The world interface will either be a view from within a single character, or a
god like view on to a large group of lemming like characters.
We shall allow multiple windows to the world, allowing the audience to subdivide
depending upon their interests. There will be challenges which will be easier to
do with cooperation, and these challenges will restrict the level of
subdivision. Thus we should not have too many windows on screen that would make
things confusing...
The challenges will utilise the basic concepts we have come up with for our
demos, but situated within the 3D world.
Some capabilities/challenges which will probably be present (we shall give
cisual cues as to what to do in each situation):
- People could come across a trampoline. The more people who switch the
paddle close to the time they hit the canvas the higher the would jump
and the more of the maze they would see. Jumping up should be easy to
implement in GL by changing the camera angle.
- They could fall thru a trap door into water... they would have to do
the frequency thing to stay afloat until they washed up on shore
somewhere else in the world.
- The challenge idea, where there would have to do things like hoops to take
a short cut.
- The boat idea... more people = faster rowing. The boat would also be
something else to chose from instead of just a direction.
- breaking thru a wall - more people, easier to break through.
- You could have a small tunnel that only half the group could go thru,
then it would collapse... that would force them to split up and maybe
they would try to get back together.

carrying things... more people could carry more stuff. 2 people = 5
lbs, 4 people = 12 lbs, etc.
- Could have video clips as they traveled thru the maze that might
perhaps provide motivation... not sure if it would work.
