The Computer Science Faculty


The Computer Science faculty invites applications for a tenure track
assistant professor position beginning in Fall 1997.  Applicants must 
have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent and research experience in
graphics, supercomputer applications, or parallel algorithms.  The
University of Alaska is the major research institution in the University
of Alaska system and location of the Arctic Region Supercomputer Center
(ARSC) which houses a CRAY Y-MP, T3D, and SGI visualization labs.  The
duties of the position include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate
levels, research (including a 50% research appointment at ARSC), and service.
UAF offers an accredited BS, an MS and interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Computer
Science. The salary is competitive and fringe benefits excellent.  Fairbanks
is a modern city with approximately 84,000 residents in the area. It is
located in Interior Alaska between the Alaska and Brooks mountain ranges and
is noted for the scope of available outdoor activities.
