We invite applications for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant
Professor level, starting September 1997 or later.  Strong preference will
be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related
field.  Candidates must have an interest in research, undergraduate and
graduate computer education, and participation in interdisciplinary
activities.  All areas of research will be considered, but preference will
be given to interests in object-oriented systems, programming languages and
operating systems, parallel and distributed systems, database systems,
graphics and visualization, and scientific applications.  Applicants must
show potential for research and teaching effectiveness. Applicants should
