Interactive HTML: Imagemaps

Although the formatting abilities of HTML are limited, you can format your own page using Imagemaps

  • You can associate URLs with arbitrary regions in an image
  • Best to read one Imagemap Tutorial or another
  • The latest innovation: Client-side Image Maps. Best of all, you can add this new feature while still supporting older browsers!
  • An Imagemap editor for X and one for Macintosh are available
  • Examples: Cornell Theory Center, Virtual Office, Xerox map viewer, and Virtual Tourist
