The SCS Network: Wiring
Floor, per-building ethernets delivered to office by multi-port
hub stacks in floor wiring closets, hubs fed from ethernet port on backbone
with UTP/coax/fiber
IBM Type-2 cabling system connects patch panels in floor wiring closet
to data outlets found in each office on floor
Connections made between one hub port and closet patch panel
and office outlet/media using impedance-matching devices/baluns
10BASE-2 (thinwire), 10BASE-T, Tokenring, LocalTalk distributed this way
Still some 10BASE-5 (COAX) ethernet in use in WeH
Floor ethernets are SHARED ethernet, hubs are only repeaters, but using
wiring, provide "star" topology
