This wiki has been set up to allow workshop participants to communicate with each other and the workshop presenters to share ideas and collaborate to increase the importance of computer science at high schools.
2007 Summer Java Workshop for APCS teachers
Carnegie Mellon will host a summer workshop for AP Computer Science high school teachers July 7-13. The workshop is intended for teachers who have one year teaching experience in Java. This week is appropriate for experienced teachers of the current A or AB curriculum.
2007 Alice Summer Institute
Carnegie Mellon will host an Alice Institute for interested high school and college instructors July 16-22. The workshop is appropriate for any instructor who is considering or currently using Alice in a pre-CS1 or CS1 course.
Women@SCS
A CMU program designed to create, encourage, and support academic, social, and professional opportunities for women in computer science and to promote the breadth of the field and its diverse community.
Computer Science Teachers Association
The Computer Science Teachers Association is a membership organization that supports and promotes the teaching of computer science and other computing disciplines. CSTA provides opportunities for K-12 teachers and students to better understand the computing disciplines and to more successfully prepare themselves to teach and learn.
Center for Women and Information Technology
The Center for Women and Information Technology (CWIT), established at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in July 1998, is dedicated to providing global leadership in achieving women's full participation in all aspects of information technology (IT). Women's participation in IT will strengthen the workforce, raise the standard of living for many women, and help to assure that information technology addresses women's needs and expands the possibilities for their lives.
ACM: Computer Degrees and Careers (pdf)
A new brochure from ACM for students in K-12 that describes the various career options available to students who study computer science and related disciplines in college.
