Michigan J. Frog is the name of the dancing and singing frog that stars in The WB commercials. His only prior appearence was an animated short One Froggy Evening, released December 31, 1955, written by Michael Maltese, and directed by Charles M. Jones. In the story, a construction worker finds the frog in the cornerstone of a demolished building. The frog jumps up and performs "Hello, My Baby" for the man, complete with tophat and cane. The construction worker sees that there is profit to be made, and tries to promote the frog. But the frog will only perform when he is alone with the man, never when he has an audience. The man goes completely broke before trying to get rid of the frog. Other songs peformed by Michigan include: "I'm Just Wild About Harry," "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone," and "Come Back to Erin."

Several people have informed me that Michigan J. Frog also made an appearence in an episode of Tiny Toon Adventures.
