Way of the Warrior: a review by Christopher Songer

Hi!

Most every feature about WOTW has been covered in excruciating detail so I thought I would simply offer my opinion and be done. The last fighting game I enjoyed was Karate Champ quite a long time ago. For one reason or another I never bothered to pick up and play the Street Fighters and the Mortal Combats. So I came to WOTW with little experience with modern fighters.

Most all of what you read here about graphics, sound and animation is true. The graphics are good, the sound is good, the animation is a bit choppy. In contrast to the rest of the world possibly, I like the voices. In particular, Dragon's closing comment ("My Grandfather Fights Better Than You") had me rolling when I first heard it as did his "victory flex."

I like the gameplay. I have not been able to "cheap" the computer into victory as some posters are maintaining is possible. For me the game has an "exploration" quality to it. There are so many moves and combat situations that exploring the options available is pretty fun! This is a game which I think sacrifices ease and animation for long term play value. To me it's fun. I like it. It is not my favorite 3do game -- it does not break new ground in "compulsiveness." But it was worth the purchase price and I expect to get many hours of entertainment from it.

Anyway,

-Chris
