Decimal Games Learning Study for Grades 5 and 6
Our National Science Foundation (NSF) sponsored research project investigates how educational games can help middle school students learn about decimals and decimal math. Our past research has shown that educational games can lead to learning benefits in comparison to more traditional instructional approaches and materials.
Our educational game is situated in an amusement park and is comprised of a variety of mini-games designed to help students learn decimals. We are looking for schools and teachers interested in participating with their 5th or 6th grade math classes in a whole-classroom study involving our educational games. The study takes a total of 5-to-7 45-minute class periods and can be scheduled to run at a convenient time for participating teachers. The materials include a pretest, the educational game, a posttest, and a delayed posttest (one week later).
