Abstract

Recent work on dimensional model reduction can exploit the fact that many complex continuous systems, such as deformable models and fluids, exhibit low-rank statistical behaviors in particular applications. These reduced dimension models can lead to very fast domain-specific simulation methods that have very attractive properties for real-time simulation, computer animation, and control. In this talk, I will provide background, and present some of our recent work on fast reduced deformable models for computer graphics and haptics.
