Social Mobile Robotics - What foundation?

Abstract

In this talk I'm going to speak about a direction of inquiry that does not have a strong foundation and perhaps the biggest challenge is understanding how to approach it. I'll motivate what I mean by social mobile robotics and why this is interesting. Then I'll provide some early results from a variety of educational and social robotics work that we have done. Last, I'll excitedly describe the next few steps we're taking along these lines, in conjunction with NASA's MER landings in January.
