Dexterous Manipulation without Grasping
Yasumichi Aiyama
3305 Newell-Simon
Hall
Refreshments 4:15 pm
Talk 4:30 pm
In this talk, I'll show some of my research topics. In traditional robot
manipulation such as manipulation in production plant, manipulators grasp
objects rigidly. But human often manipulates an object dexterously without
grasping it. This "graspless" concept brings
-- to achieve complex task using its environment or other
objects as support,
-- to allow position-controlled manipulator to manipulate
an object contacted with environment,
-- to manipulate an object using dynamic characteristics.
In this talk, I'll explain these topics with some video clips.
