Index of /afs/cs.cmu.edu/user/clamen/misc/tv/Animaniacs/sounds/

The sounds in this directory are encoded in the 8bit ULAW (.AU) format, the native sound format for Sun Sparc and NeXT machines. Many are additionally compressed to conserve disk space. Software is available to "uncompress" the files and to convert from the ULAW format so that it can be played on other platforms. See the notes below for additional information.

Notes

Playing Sounds

If just clicking on one of the sound files does not result in sound being emitted from the speaker on your computer, you might not have your WWW viewer configured correctly for sound. The Sphere has a nice primer that may provide some help.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Radio Network site provides pointers useful to setting up your machine to play AU sound files, such as are found in this directory, or converting the files to alternative formats.

File Compression

Some of the longer clips have been compressed with the GNU project's GZIP program, which is available for a variety of operating systems, including the Macintosh, DOS, and UNIX.

Additions

I don't have the disk space to add more sounds, but would be more than happy to add pointers to any you know about elsewhere.
