PAT bus to/from the
airport,
Route 28X
The cheapest (and quite handy) way of getting between the airport and CMU
is the 28X or the airport flyer.
It runs 7 days a week, leaving
Morewood and Forbes beginning at 5:30 a.m. with the last run to the
airport leaving at 10:45 p.m. The final run from the airport will leave
about 11:55 p.m. to return to Oakland. The bus is scheduled to run
every 45 minutes. The cost is $1.95 each way and if you want to go
somewhere other than Oakland you can get a transfer for another $.25 and
change buses downtown.
The pick up point is not very clearly signposted at the airport. You
should go to the Ground Transportation desk in the Baggage Claims area at the
airport, where you can pick up the bus schedule, and be pointed to the bus
stop. (When facing the Ground Transportation desk, leave the building by the
door immediately to your left, and then there is a "small" signpost on the kerb
indicating the "Airport Flyer" bus stop). The driver will call out stops, but
CMU is the last one. The key Oakland stop is at South Bellefield Avenue, a short
walk to the Holiday Inn and Pittsburgh Athletic Associaton.
Alternatives
If you wish to rent a car or take a taxi from the airport, these options are
clearly signed posted in the Baggage Claims area. Most hotels have courtesy
shuttles to the airport, and will do pick up.
