Welcome to The Clam Bed

Carnegie Mellon's legal counsel, Mr. Walter DeForest, is trying to figure out the legal status of the OT materials I had previously included on my Church of Scientology International v. Fishman and Geertz web page. Until he has made a determination as to their status, I will not serve those or other disputed materials from my computer, because I don't want to get CMU needlessly sued.

In the interim, I know that people are curious about the OT materials and would like to learn more about them. Many sites on the net contain samples of these materials. Some of this stuff might be protected under copyright law. Some might be protected as trade secrets. Some might be in the public domain, or be covered by the doctrine of ``fair use.'' And some might even appear with the Church's blessing. Since I'm not a lawyer, I can't sort this out for myself. I have to assume that the people who put up these web sites have made their own legal determinations or reached their own agreements with the Church about what they may put online. As I become aware of such web sites, I will put a pointer to them on this page.

Legal note: I am not copying this material to any CMU machine or making it available to other people. I am merely publishing the URLs for files in cyberspace that interest me. One of my areas of professional interest as a computer scientist is freedom of expression in cyberspace. My understanding is that URLs cannot be copyrighted, and publishing a URL for a copyrighted work is not a copyright violation. Complete Fishman File in Sweden

Zenon Panoussis has put the complete Fishman declaration (including both the full text of OT II and OT III and the Michael Robinson/Karin Spaink summaries) on a web site in Sweden.

Fishman in Holland

The Church attack on XS4ALL, a Dutch Internet provider, caused widespread indignation in Holland. Details of the raid, as reconstructed for a Dutch television program (including pictures), are available here.
