Queue manager: Keerthana Gurushankar (kgurusha at cs)
When you are at the front of the queue you will be notified by the queue manager. At that time, it is your civic duty to do a few minutes' worth of departmental service. Once your task is completed, you will be moved to the end of the queue.
Currently, the queue is only used to organize the weekly CSD Tea and lounge cleanings. These tasks take very little time and are greatly appreciated by your peers. Here are the emails you may receive when you get to the top of the queue. They describe the aforementioned tasks.
Any departmental service counts towards being moved to the bottom of the queue. For example, volunteering during open house and IC, or serving on admissions committees or hiring committees all count. Organizing a social event open to the entire department is also sufficient for being moved to the bottom of the queue. If you have done something for the department, let the queue manager know and you will be moved to the bottom of the queue.
If for some reason you are unable to order snacks for CSD Tea or tidy the lounge when it is your turn to do so, you should find someone else to do it. Notify the queue manager and you will swap queue positions with that person.
If you would like to be removed from the queue, please notify the queue manager. However, please consider the following remarks before doing so:
Departmental service is an important part of being a member of the CSD community, and events such as open house, IC, CSD Tea, Black Friday, etc., would not be possible without volunteers. It is unreasonable to expect others to do all of the work, and tidying the lounge or organising tea are the easiest ways for you to contribute to your community.
