Overview

Helix is a robot currently under development that combines the deployment capabilities of our Ferret systems with the mobility of Groundhog. Helix can dynamically reconfigure itself depending on its mode of operation. For deployment in a borehole, Helix takes the shape of a pipe matching the cylindrical shape of a borehole. Once in the subterranean void, Helix will unfold into a mobile platform for mobile exploration. It has a full 360 degree scanning laser system for obstacle avoidance, motion planning, and mapping.
