A flat plate traveling through liquid has a boundary layer going to 0 velocity of size tex2html_wrap87 . Then tex2html_wrap88 , which is sort of a reynolds number. The reynolds number of the boundary layer is tex2html_wrap89 which determines whether the wake will be turbulent. if the reynolds number is less than a few hundred the flow is not turbulent.
