Queenstown 14 February 2001
It's Valentine's Day, and we're on our honeymoon. What to do? Why, take a hike and see the Bottle House, of course! What else? We went up the gondola and had fabulous views of the lake and town below. (Queenstown reminds me a lot of Lake Tahoe, only with the tourist industry on a smaller scale.) At the top of the gondola, we disembarked and spent some time in the bar nursing gin & tonics. After a while, we headed down the gondola and into town.
Dining on Valentine's Day without reservations might seem a dicey proposition, but we got a table at Winnie Bagoes without difficulty. We had a DELICIOUS pizza with brie, cranberry sauce and chicken. Continuing the cholesterol onslaught, we walked out to get ice cream from "the best ice cream place on the planet" (their claim and we can't remember the name). We took our cones down to the board-walk to watch the ducks, geese and sunset before retiring back to the B&B. A very happy honeymoon Valentine's Day!
