West to Greymouth — 20 February 2001

We got up early to take the TransAlpine train across the South Island to Greymouth. We crossed through some impressive mountains and rivers. In Greymouth, we reached the Tasman Sea, then headed back to make the return trip to Christchurch in the afternoon.

In the evening, we ate at Cooking With Gas, one of the best restaurants of the entire trip. They make lamb. Delicious lamb.
