A Prayer
I did this drawing towards the end of undergraduate school. I was working on my thesis then, and possibly felt like I needed some divine intervention to get things done well and on time. Now that I am moving towards the end of graduate school, and finishing up my PhD dissertation, I think I may need to do another one of these. This time, though, it would probably have to be several orders of magnitude larger than the one I did before !!
One of the things that I really like about the oil pastel medium is that the colors merge really well, and this gives me the ability to play around with very colorful backgrounds. Notice that many of my oil pastel pieces have very rich backgrounds. I continue to work on striking the right balance between the background and main objects of a picture so that the main objects are not overshadowed by the background color.
