Install JavaTM

Select your operating system below for instructions on installing Java:

Windows 95/Windows 98/Windows NT 4.0

If you already have version 1.1 or greater of either the Java Development Kit (JDK) or the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), then you already have Java and should return to Installing Ladybug. Otherwise...

1. Download the JRE now. You will have two download options: the first supports only U.S. English and the second supports U.S. English as well as other languages and dialects.

2. Install the JRE by double-clicking on the file you downloaded in step one. The JRE will guide you through its installation process.

3. Install Ladybug.

Solaris

If you already have version 1.1 or greater of either the Java Development Kit (JDK) or the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), then you already have Java and should return to Installing Ladybug. Otherwise...

MacOS

If you already have the Macintosh Runtime for Java (MRJ) then you already have the necessary JVM and should return to Installing Ladybug. Otherwise...

1. Download the MRJ now. Depending on how your system is configured, this file may install automatically. If so, return to Installing Ladybug. If not...

2. Install the MRJ by double-clicking on the file you downloaded in the previous step.

3. Install Ladybug.

Other Operating Systems

Ladybug should work on any system that supports Java version 1.1. In addition to the above systems, this currently includes OS/2 and most varieties of Unix. If you already have a JVM, then return to Installing Java. Otherwise...

1. Check Javasoft's Operating Systems Supporting Java page for information on obtaining a JVM.

2. Download and install the proper JVM for your system setup.

3. Install Ladybug.
