Who Am I

I am a second year Master's student at the Language Technologies Institute, Carnegie Mellon University.

What Do I Do

Study, Build and Fascinate over systems which can effectively understand the instrinsic meaning of human communication, language.
I meet and greet tons of super-smart people at CMU, and learn cool and interesting things from them every single day. I have taken/taking exciting courses in Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Language and Statistics, Natural Language Processing and Software Engineering during my time at CMU.
I work with my advisor Prof. Alexander Hauptmann in the Informedia Research group where we deal with event detection in multimedia, in particular foccusing on video level analysis. Here is a link to my resume

What Have I Done

Before coming to CMU I was a student in Computer Science at PESIT Bangalore, one of the premier private colleges in India. I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science Engineering from the same.
I have worked under the guidance of Dr. Kavi Mahesh during which we built a "Speech Based Search Tool for the visually impaired". This project received the award for "Best Project with a Social Cause" and also bore mention in a local newspaper.
I have also worked with Dr. A.Srinivas and Dr. R Srinath during my prior years of undergraduate education.

More Information

I love reading, writing and travelling. I am active in CMU's tartan weekly newspaper as a junior writer and sometimes cover certain articles for them. This was one of the article's I wrote for them. I have also taken a fancy to cooking, and I am discovering new cuisines around me. In my spare time, I follow cricket and root for the Indian Cricket Team and the Bangalore Royal Challengers!!!
