SPEAKER BIO:
Ronald Rosenfeld is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science and the Graduate School of Industrial Administration at Carnegie Mellon University. He received a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics from Tel-Aviv University in 1985, and a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University in 1991 and 1994, respectively. He is a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow (1986-1990) and a recipient of the Allen Newell Medal for Research Excellence (1992). Prof. Rosenfeld's research interests are in stochastic modeling of real world computational processes, particularly sequential processes such as natural language, using tools from information theory, statistic, and artificial intelligence.
