Humanoid Robotics Project of AIST (HRP for short) has been run since
1998 for five years. Four copies of humanoid robot HRP-1, made by Honda
& R&D, and new humanoid robot HRP-2, developed by Kawada Industries and
AIST, are used as the platforms of the project as well as the software
platform Open HRP, which stands for Open Architecture Humanoid Robotics
Pladtform. Five kinds of applications have been investigated on the
platforms, i.e. maintenance task of industrial plants, tele-driving of
construction machines, security service at home and office, taking care
of patients and cooperative works in the open air. This talk presents an
overviews of HRP with the emphasis on the new humanoid robot HRP-2 and
the software platform OpenHRP.
