I am completing my PhD in the computer science department at Carnegie Mellon. I spent my first years at CMU working in the areas of natural language processing and statistical language modeling, but gradually became interested in computational biology, and eventually transitioned completely into this area. My thesis research is in the area of comparative genomics, and focuses on statistical approaches for analyzing the spatial organization of genes within and across genomes.
