The two links below are to an issue of Science and Citizen, published in 1964. The issue is entitled "Test Ban Treaty Anniversary Issue". Esther is the author of one of the articles, entitled "Fallout in Food and Water" on page 13. William Sleator, her husband, is on the editorial board.
There are also several articles about the Baby Tooth Survey, which was initiated by scientists at Washington University, and St. Louis University. The survey collected baby teeth and measured the amount of strontium-90 they contained. In this way they were able quantitatively measure human exposure to radioactive fallout. (This episide of Veritasium briefly explains the study at 8 minutes in.)
