Demystifying XML

One hour talk

This tutorial will de-mystify the hype surrounding XML by replacing hand-waving and abstract concepts with real explanations and practical examples. It will begin with a no-nonsence intro by answering the what, why, and how of XML, continue with practical examples of manipulating XML with regular expressions and the XML::Parser module, and conclude by building several practical examples that will retrieve XML from the Web and convert it to HTML using regular expressions, LWP, and XML::Parser. Materials will include harcopies of the presentation, and a floppy disk containing all Perl XML modules, the Perl-XML FAQ, and the sources of the scripts used in the presentation.

The materials for this conference will be available from this site, as well as at http://www.perlxml.com/yapc.
