Left picture: carefully preserved wild flowers near Mt. St. Helens under a beautiful summer sky. The tree trunks show destruction of the 1980 eruption. All life forms in a radius of many miles were either blown down by strong gusts (up to 700 MPH) or buried by ashes. Two decades later, life and peace come back to this once deserted land. Right picture: Mt. St. Helens today.
