2004/1/10 The photo shows a distorted setting sun, two sunspot groups (537 upper left, 536 lower right in cloud), and an airplane. The photo was taken with a Celestron Starhopper 8"/f6 Dob, Baader solar filter, 18 mm Scopetronix eyepiece/adapter, and Nikon coolpix 995 digital camera, 1/125 second, at 16:51 EST. From Green Tree, Pittsburgh.

2003/12/21 16:45 EST. A strange shaped sun right before sunset, distorted by the atmosphere. The atmosphere also produced the green patch on the top edge of the sun. 8" Dob + Baader AstroSolar filter + Scopetronix 18mm eyepice + Nikon coolpix 995 camera. 1/250, F2.6, f8.2mm, ISO 400.

2003/4/12 19:54 EDT, A tiny bit of green light can be seen on top of the sun. This is the famous (although an insignificant version of) green flash. A similar effect can be observed when planets or stars are low, for example this rainbow-colored venus . 8" Dob + AstroSolar filter + Scopetronix 18mm eyepice + Nikon coolpix 995 camera. 1/2000 second, F8.2, ISO 100.
