Various free tools such as Avogadro allow users to visualize and manipulate molecules at the atomic level. However, the joy of holding a real model of these microscopic entities may never be surpassed by the virtual and often awkward interfaces to computers. This project explores techniques to partially automate and simplify the process of printing a 3D model of a given molecule. It was interesting to develop techniques to create 3D models of molecules in SolidWorks by using programmatic API calls. This approach leads to considerable reduction in interaction by the user. The results of these programmatic generations are below.
