This rubber band propelled plane and launcher was made using a combination of laser cut balsa wood, laser cut acrylic, and 3D printed plastic. The slots for the plane were dimensioned with SolidWorks equations. The propeller has a metal wire through it which has a hook at one end that locks in with the propeller blade. Thus, when the rubber band causes the wire to rotate, the hook causes the propeller blade to spin. The hook was made by using pliers to bend a metal wire into shape. The launcher works by having the movable block latch onto the nose piece of the plane. The propellers are prevented from spinning while the plane is on the launcher by the railings.
