CONSTRAINTS :
Check selection
|
Overview
This constraint is used to check the compatibility of the assigner and receiver in a fuse. This constraint is used as well as the psense and category checks.
Proposal
The selection-restrictions check is proposed whenever the receiver is
marked with animate and the assigner is not marked as both animate and inanimate. The marking of an item with both animate and inanimate is used to indicate
that the animacy doesn't matter for that assigner. Thus, if a subject is
animate (i.e. John), and the assigning verb is sit then
sit should be marked with both animate and inanimate because it
does not require animacy of the subject (unlike a verb like eat or
think.
Implementation
Since the constraint is proposed with animate receivers, to pass the
assigner must also be marked as animate, or else fail.
